At that point in the video, I started to notice the lag in the application, as well, getting fewer frames per second.

However, I wanted to see it with my own eyes, so I turned the camera on the DJI Mavic Mini down. Of course, on the map in the lower left-hand corner of the app, you can also see when you reach the other side of the river. At that point, I was determined to make it to the other side. And then again at 3,500 meters, which is 2.2 miles roughly, I got another weak signal warning.Īt this point, I was near the other side of the river, so I slowly turned the gimbal down so I could see when I would hit the other side of the river. Then at 3,200 meters or about 2 miles, I got another weak signal warning. I canceled that warning and kept on flying.

About nine minutes into the flight, I got a low battery and a return to home warning even though the battery was still a 60% charge. And then a little later at about 3,000 meters, which is 1.8 miles. There was a second message at 2,950 meters, which is about 1.8 miles. As you can see, I still have these settings in the new DJI fly app set at meters instead of miles, but I’ll convert the numbers for you a little later on in the video.Īround 2,700 meters, which is 1.7 miles, I got the first weak signal warning to notify me about decreased Wi-Fi performance. You’ll see this a little later in the video. I decided not to speed ramp the video and just let it play out, so you get a sense of how much time the flight took and also how quickly the battery depleted.ĭuring this flight with the DJI Mavic Mini, I found out that you can turn the map on in the bottom left-hand corner if you click on the little square map turns on. I did turn the drone into the sports mode as it would give me a bit more power to overcome the headwind, and you’ll see throughout the flight that there are plenty of warnings notifying us of the strong wind conditions. At least, I would estimate about 10 miles an hour, and we’re flying straight into it. DJI Mavic Mini long-distance range test proves mini-drone is legitĪs you can see at the end of the video, there was quite a bit of a headwind.
